This route is designed to avoid Dunstable Town Centre, which can be very busy at times. It is also much more scenic:

COMING FROM THE SOUTH:

0.0 Miles: Leave M1 at Junction 9 signposted A5183 Redbourn. Turn left onto A5183 heading North. Pass Holiday Inn on right, and pass Markyate Village. Pass Jet Garage on left.

3.3 miles: At Packhorse Pub bear left onto B4540 towards Whipsnade, Kensworth. Pass through Kensworth village.

5.5 miles: At Whipsnade Heath roundabout, turn right onto Whipsnade Road B4541 towards Dunstable Downs. admire fantastic local scenery, gliders, hang-gliders, kites etc but watch the road too! Descend towards Dunstable.

7.7 miles: At roundabout, bear left onto Tring Road B489. Get into right-hand lane immediately.

7.8 miles: At the roundabout bear right onto Totternhoe Road.

8.2 miles: Continue straight ahead onto Dunstable Road. Descend hill.

8.8 miles: Lancot Park is on the right just before Totternhoe village.
